So you have to register your guns...

longgun.gif (1606 bytes)handgun.gif (1219 bytes)You own some guns, but your "FAC" has expired. You have to renew it in order to register your guns, and if you've never taken the test(s), now is the time. I don't know what to tell you. Time has run out. Go here: Uh-oh.

So you want to get a gun...

longgun.gif (1606 bytes)handgun.gif (1219 bytes)Whether you acquire a firearm by buying it, getting it as a gift, trading for it, inheriting it, you need a PAL or "Possession and Acquisition License" if you want to be legal. You have to pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course Exam. Two exams if you want the full "Restricted" (handguns) license.

So you need a gun license for work...

longgun.gif (1606 bytes)handgun.gif (1219 bytes)If you work in a business that requires a firearms license (armed security, the film business, a gun shop, etc.), you have to get a full "Restricted" license. You need the Canadian Firearms Safety Course Exam and the restricted version both. Even if you're going into Law enforcement, you'll want a firearms license so you can practice with your gun(s).

So you want to go hunting...

longgun.gif (1606 bytes)handgun.gif (1219 bytes)If you want a hunting license (which is Provincial, not Federal), and you want to use a firearm, first you need a PAL or "Possession and Acquisition License". You have to pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course Exam.

If you have a "Possession Only License" that you got back in 2000 or earlier, and you want to upgrade to a PAL, you need to pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course Exam. Two exams if you want the full "Restricted" (handguns) license.

FAC Firearms Academy Canada teaches the Canadian Firearms Safety Course and the Restricted Course and administers the Federal exams. We've been doing this since "Day 1" in 1994. We're good at it. If you live in the Toronto area, and you want to know more, come on into our website.

If you're just after general information from the government, or if you're inquiring about the status of your application, contact them directly at 1-800-731-4000.

Again, if you own firearms and you don't have a valid license, you are breaking the law. We don't know how to advise you.

Phone us or contact us by email. Do it TODAY.
