The
Canadian Firearms Safety Course Agenda
This is a basic level Firearms Safety course. It is designed to give the student overall background information about safe firearms handling and familiarity with the laws and procedures regarding firearms ownership in Canada. The course is basic enough so that those who have never handled firearms will gain a good understanding of the subject. And yet, students who have experience generally consider the course to be a great refresher, and excellent preparation for the Canadian Firearms Safety Examination. There are, in fact, two separate courses -- one for non-restricted and the other for restricted firearms. At FAC we run the two courses in one continuous session. Those not interested in obtaining their "restricted" firearms license would be done after the first 10 hours, the others continue for six more hours. This is a classroom course -- no live firing is involved. There is ample
opportunity to handle various kinds of firearms, though, so we must ensure
that there is no live ammunition brought into the classroom. And
please note that FAC has a strict zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol
and other substances.
